What is an Injectable
Filler?
Injectable fillers are substances designed to smooth away
contour irregularities in the skin or to provide additional
fullness.
Treatment with a filler is intended to
temporarily correct or improve a contour defect, wrinkle,
scar or line usually on the face but sometimes on the neck,
back and chest. Fillers are also used to create fuller
cheeks and to augment the lips.
The filler is injected using a fine needle inserted at
several points along the edge of the treatment site.
The duration of results from filler injections
is variable. The longevity of a filler depends on
the type of the particular filler, the patient's
lifestyle and physical characteristics as well as the part
of the body treated. In general, the injected material is
likely to disappear faster in areas where there is more muscle movement.
